The pipal tree is native to south Asia where it is revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. You will find one at the centre of many Nepalese towns and villages where it is a focus for worship and for neighbourly meetings. The tree therefore is an excellent symbol of our community-based philosophy where we engage with local people in Madhesh Province, discussing their needs and possible solutions. We are also holistic in approach with, for example, our education projects being conducted in the same localities where we are implementing reforestation and rewilding activities.

Under Nepalese law, we cannot conduct projects directly in Nepal. Instead, we must work through implementing partners – two NGOs and one social enterprise. Our role is to provide these local partners with the resources they need (finance, consultancy, mentoring) as we build their capacity to run their own projects. We advise on international media exposure and communications, ensuring that our partners and projects get the exposure they deserve. We take pride in delivering tangible results at the grassroots, local, levels while amplifying our impact through raising awareness nationally and internationally.
