The Big Give Green Match Fund appeal, that launched on Earth Day 2022, got off to a resounding start. Pipal Tree was one of 150 environmental charities that was awarded pledges to incentivise gifts from the general public. In our case The Big Give granted us a pledge of £5,000 giving us an appeal target of £10,000. Actually, we had asked for a £10,000 pledge but in these tough times you're grateful for a pledge of any scale and this remained very generous. One day and nine hours after launch we have already used up £4,058 of the pledge, raising a total of £8,116 from 28 donors. It seems that we are therefore on course to hit our target, but there is never any room for complacency. And it would be a dream come true if we could indeed reach the £20,000 we need to draw a line under the funding requirement for this particular project.
As a way of incentivising donations, the Pipal Tree Founder, Philip Holmes has decided to make a mosaic this week that can be dedicated to one of our appeal donors. Their gift will be acknowledged on a brass plaque that will be placed alongside the mosaic when it is finally sited in Nepal in July. See the video below to understand what Philip is trying to achieve:
Do come back to this blog post during the course of the week to see updates on how Philip is getting along. And don't forget to donate by clicking on the Big Give logo below. If you do, your name will go into the hat for the draw that will take place after the Appeal ends at noon on Friday 29th April.
Oh - and a big thanks to our volunteer graphic designer, Dan Schenck, for a super new Bird Park logo!
